Natura Travel terms and conditions

Terms and Conditions

These Terms and Conditions apply to travel services arranged through Natura Travel and the website natura-travel.com.

Natura Travel specialises in private and tailor-made journeys throughout Madagascar. You can explore our current Madagascar tours and tailor-made itineraries or discover practical destination information in our Madagascar Travel Guide.

By confirming a booking or making a payment, the traveller acknowledges that they have read and accepted these Terms and Conditions together with the specific quotation, itinerary and booking conditions provided for their trip.

1. Travel Proposals and Quotations

Natura Travel creates personalised journeys in Madagascar based on the traveller’s interests, travel dates, preferred level of comfort, budget and available time.

Our itineraries may include accommodation, private transport, local guides, national parks, excursions and other travel services depending on the trip selected.

Travellers looking for inspiration can view our selection of private tours in Madagascar.

Prices displayed on our website marked “From” are indicative starting prices only.

The final price, services included and services excluded will be clearly stated in the personalised quotation provided before booking.

A quotation does not constitute a confirmed booking until the required payment has been received and confirmation has been issued by Natura Travel.

2. Booking Confirmation

A booking is considered confirmed once:

  • the traveller has accepted the proposed itinerary and quotation;
  • the required deposit or payment has been received; and
  • Natura Travel has confirmed the booking in writing.

The person making the booking is responsible for ensuring that all travellers included in the booking are aware of and accept these Terms and Conditions.

Travellers should carefully review all names, travel dates, accommodation arrangements and services shown in their booking confirmation and inform Natura Travel promptly if any information is incorrect.

3. Payments

The amount of the deposit, payment schedule and final payment deadline will be specified in the quotation or invoice provided for each trip.

Because Natura Travel organises tailor-made journeys, payment conditions may vary depending on the services booked and the requirements of hotels, airlines, transport providers and other suppliers.

Certain services may require immediate or non-refundable payment. Where applicable, this will be communicated to the traveller before payment is requested.

Any bank charges, international transfer fees or payment processing fees charged by the traveller’s bank or payment provider are the responsibility of the traveller unless otherwise stated.

4. Prices and Included Services

The confirmed price is based on the itinerary and services specified in the traveller’s personalised quotation.

Depending on the trip, the price may include accommodation, private transport, drivers, local guides, excursions, national park visits and other services specifically mentioned in the itinerary.

International flights, visas, travel insurance, personal expenses, tips, meals or activities not expressly listed as included are not included unless otherwise stated.

General prices displayed on the Natura Travel tours page are starting prices and should not be considered final quotations.

If the traveller requests changes after confirmation, the total price may change accordingly.

5. Changes Requested by the Traveller

Requests to change a confirmed trip must be submitted to Natura Travel in writing as soon as possible.

We will make reasonable efforts to accommodate requested changes, but all changes remain subject to availability and the conditions imposed by the relevant suppliers.

Any additional costs resulting from a requested change will be communicated to the traveller before the change is confirmed.

Some confirmed services may be non-changeable or non-refundable.

6. Cancellation by the Traveller

All cancellations must be communicated to Natura Travel in writing.

The cancellation conditions applicable to each booking, including any applicable cancellation fees, will be stated in the traveller’s quotation, booking confirmation or invoice before the relevant payment is made.

Cancellation costs may vary depending on the date of cancellation and the conditions imposed by hotels, airlines, transport providers and other suppliers.

Services that have already been paid to suppliers on a non-refundable basis may not be refundable.

Travellers are strongly encouraged to purchase comprehensive travel insurance that includes appropriate cancellation cover.

7. Changes to the Itinerary

Travelling in Madagascar sometimes requires flexibility.

Weather conditions, road conditions, domestic flight changes, transport disruptions, national park conditions and other circumstances may affect an itinerary before or during a journey.

For practical information about travelling around the country, travellers may also consult our Madagascar Travel Guide.

When a change is necessary, Natura Travel will make reasonable efforts to provide an appropriate alternative of a similar standard wherever possible.

Minor changes that do not significantly affect the overall nature of the trip do not constitute a cancellation of the booking.

8. Circumstances Beyond Our Control

Natura Travel cannot guarantee that every service will operate exactly as originally planned when circumstances beyond our reasonable control occur.

These circumstances may include severe weather, cyclones, natural disasters, road closures, flight cancellations, strikes, government restrictions, civil disturbances, epidemics, public health emergencies or other exceptional events.

In such situations, Natura Travel will make reasonable efforts to assist travellers and identify suitable alternatives whenever possible.

Additional costs resulting from circumstances beyond our reasonable control may be payable by the traveller, subject to the circumstances of the booking and any mandatory legal rights that apply.

9. Accommodation

Accommodation is selected according to the agreed itinerary, traveller preferences, availability and expected standard.

Hotels and lodges shown in an initial proposal may occasionally become unavailable before final confirmation.

Where confirmed accommodation becomes unavailable, Natura Travel will make reasonable efforts to provide an appropriate alternative of a similar category or standard.

Accommodation standards, facilities and services in remote regions of Madagascar may differ from those normally expected in Europe, North America or other destinations.

10. Road Transport and Travel Times

Road conditions vary considerably throughout Madagascar and may change depending on the region, weather and season.

Travel times shown in itineraries are therefore estimates rather than guaranteed journey times.

Delays may occur because of road conditions, traffic, construction, weather or other local circumstances.

Natura Travel designs itineraries with these realities in mind. Travellers preparing their journey may find additional practical information in our guide to things to know before travelling to Madagascar.

11. Flights

Unless specifically stated otherwise in the quotation, international flights to and from Madagascar are not included.

Where domestic or international flights are included or arranged as part of a journey, they remain subject to the airline’s own terms, schedules and conditions.

Airlines may modify departure times, routes or flight schedules independently of Natura Travel.

Travellers are responsible for checking their international flight details and allowing sufficient connection time.

Natura Travel cannot be held responsible for changes made independently by an airline but will make reasonable efforts to assist travellers when a flight change affects services arranged through us.

12. Passports, Visas and Entry Requirements

Travellers are responsible for ensuring that they hold a valid passport, appropriate visa and any other documents required to enter and travel within Madagascar.

Passport, visa, immigration and entry requirements may change.

Travellers should verify the latest official requirements with the appropriate authorities before travelling.

Natura Travel cannot be held responsible if a traveller is refused entry or unable to travel because of incomplete, incorrect, expired or invalid travel documents.

13. Health and Medical Requirements

Travellers are responsible for determining whether a journey and its activities are suitable for their personal health, mobility and physical condition.

Any medical condition, mobility requirement, dietary requirement, allergy or other circumstance that may affect participation in the trip should be communicated to Natura Travel before booking.

Travellers should obtain appropriate professional medical advice regarding vaccinations, medication and health precautions before travelling.

14. Travel Insurance

Comprehensive travel insurance is strongly recommended for all travellers.

Insurance should provide appropriate cover for medical expenses, emergency evacuation, cancellation, interruption, baggage and the activities planned during the journey.

Travellers are responsible for selecting an appropriate insurance policy and understanding its conditions, limits and exclusions.

15. Traveller Responsibilities

Travellers are expected to behave responsibly and respectfully toward local communities, guides, drivers, accommodation providers, wildlife, natural environments and other travellers.

Travellers must follow reasonable safety instructions provided by Natura Travel, local guides, drivers, park authorities and other service providers.

Madagascar has distinctive customs and cultural traditions. Travellers interested in preparing for their journey can learn more through the Natura Travel Madagascar Travel Guide.

Natura Travel reserves the right to discontinue services to a traveller whose behaviour creates a serious safety risk or causes significant disruption to the journey, our partners or other people.

16. Wildlife and Natural Experiences

Madagascar is primarily a natural and wildlife destination, and wildlife encounters cannot be guaranteed.

The presence, behaviour and visibility of animals depend on natural conditions including weather, season, habitat and wildlife movement.

Guides will make reasonable efforts to provide the best possible wildlife experience while respecting national park regulations and animal welfare.

No refund can be provided solely because a particular animal or species was not observed during an excursion or visit.

17. National Parks and Activities

Visits to national parks, reserves and protected areas remain subject to local regulations, weather conditions, opening conditions and decisions made by the relevant authorities.

Certain activities may require an appropriate level of physical fitness.

Where an activity cannot safely operate because of weather, local conditions or a decision made by the relevant authority, Natura Travel will make reasonable efforts to suggest an alternative where possible.

18. Third-Party Suppliers

Natura Travel works with independent hotels, lodges, guides, drivers, airlines, boat operators, national parks and other travel service providers in order to organise journeys.

These suppliers may apply their own operational, booking, cancellation and safety conditions.

Natura Travel takes reasonable care when selecting suppliers but cannot control every action, decision or service performed independently by a third-party provider.

Nothing in these Terms and Conditions excludes or limits any liability that cannot legally be excluded or limited under applicable law.

19. Unused Services

If a traveller voluntarily chooses not to use a confirmed service after the journey has started, such as accommodation, transport, excursions, meals or activities, a refund cannot normally be guaranteed.

Where the relevant supplier agrees to provide a refund, Natura Travel will inform the traveller accordingly.

20. Problems During the Trip

If a problem occurs during the journey, the traveller should inform Natura Travel, the guide or the relevant local representative as soon as possible.

Reporting a problem promptly gives us the opportunity to investigate it and, where reasonably possible, resolve it while the traveller is still in Madagascar.

Travellers should not wait until the end of the journey to report an issue that could reasonably have been addressed during the trip.

21. Complaints

If an issue cannot be resolved during the journey, the traveller should contact Natura Travel in writing and provide all relevant details.

We will review the circumstances and respond as reasonably as possible based on the services booked and the information available.

22. Personal Information and Privacy

Personal information provided during an enquiry or booking may be used to prepare quotations, communicate with the traveller and organise the services included in the journey.

Where necessary, relevant information may be shared with hotels, guides, transport providers, airlines or other travel partners involved in providing the booked services.

For more information about the collection and use of personal information, please read the Natura Travel Privacy Policy.

25. Governing Terms

These Terms and Conditions, together with the traveller’s personalised quotation, itinerary, invoice and booking confirmation, form the conditions applicable to the booking.

They are subject to applicable law in Madagascar and to any mandatory legal protections that may apply and cannot lawfully be excluded.

26. Changes to These Terms and Conditions

Natura Travel may update these Terms and Conditions when necessary.

The version applicable to a booking is the version communicated or available when the booking is confirmed, unless a change is required by applicable law.

The date of the latest update is displayed at the top of this page.
